OP-17 "The World's Strongest Warriors": OPTCG's 4th Anniversary Set
Martin De Asis

One Piece Card Game is turning four years old, and Bandai is marking the occasion with its biggest release yet: OP-17, "The World's Strongest Warriors." This is the game's 4th Anniversary Booster Pack, and true to that title, it's not built around a single arc — it's a celebration set pulling in legendary fighters and iconic powerhouses from across the entire One Piece story.

Here's everything you need to know before it hits shelves.

Release Date

  • English release: August 28, 2026 (with a US pre-release window starting August 21)
  • Japanese release: August 22, 2026
  • Notably, OP-17 kicks off the game's first-ever Global Simultaneous Release, meaning this is the first set where English and Japanese players get their cards at (nearly) the same time going forward.

What's the Theme?

OP-17 draws its story from the Elbaph arc and the world of the Four Emperors, bringing the long-awaited island of giants into the card game for the first time. Since this is an anniversary set, expect the roster to lean heavily on fan-favorite characters and nostalgic Leaders getting fresh treatments rather than a tight, single-arc focus.

New Rarities: Manga Leader & Manga Rare

OP-17 introduces two brand-new card types to the game: the Manga Leader and Manga Rare — the first time these rarities have ever appeared in the One Piece Card Game. For a 4th anniversary set, it's a fitting way to give collectors something genuinely new to chase.

Chase Cards to Watch

  • New Shanks Leader — card number OP17-020, one of six total Leader cards in the set
  • Super Rares featuring Shanks and nine other major characters
  • A first-ever Monkey D. Garp Super Alt-Art, revealed in Bandai's official card preview

With six Leaders total to hunt down and a Super Rare lineup built around some of the series' biggest names, this is shaping up to be one of the most chased anniversary sets yet.

Set Composition

  • 131+4 card types (Bandai's official count as of the latest update)
  • 12 cards per pack
  • 24 packs per booster display
  • 12 displays per case

Should You Pre-Order?

If you're a collector, the combination of new Manga Leader/Manga Rare rarities, a stacked Super Rare lineup, and the game's first Global Simultaneous Release makes this a strong set to grab at release rather than wait out. If you're a competitive player, keep an eye on official card reveals over the coming weeks. Anniversary sets often support older Leaders with new, more competitive effects, which could shake up the current meta.
